Different tools and different purposes. I use both and wouldn’t sacrifice either of them.

How about links with a 307 redirect with Pretty Links (their default setting), still convert them all to 301 redirect?

You don’t need to wait for a penalty in order to be proactive about removing toxic links.

You don’t need a penalty to have it make sense to clean up toxic links.

Isn’t cleaning toxic/bad external links part of Penalty Removal? (Disavowing them?)

If you don’t recommend using 302 redirects with the Pretty Links plugin for affiliate links, which redirect should we use? 301?

I especially liked the parts about thinking about them as updates, not penalties and about 302 redirects.

Great insight with invaluable lessons. Yes, indeed the hardwork and long-term commitment are essential for success in this error where an update can easily decimate your traffic by huge points. Though with a smaller site (about 100 pages) and less traffic, I’ve been doing a lot to recover from the August update. It paid off when I recovered about half the traffic with March update.
