Aitoc and Amasty plugins are what we generally use – I hate magento as its so clunky

We usually have plugins to do these tasks:

one page checkout – on magento 1 this will 2x your conversion rate as the default cart is complete garbage

an SEO plugin that can template titles and metas

there are several plugins that will auto add alt tags to images and also rename image filenames to match the product. Magento 1 has an image cache where images are pulled from so this works a bit differently to other CMSes

abandoned cart and review reminder

I do quite a bit of ecomm seo but that is the most comprehensive all in one posts I’ve read. The tips about the process of asking for reviews are really good…

You do mention noindexing and canonicals but with older established sites I find a good quick win is reducing the bloat and getting rid of product pages that never get visitors or sales completely. It can be a tough sell with the client but if for eg a page selling some cheap widget gets no traffic and hasn’t sold even one in the last few years then they are better off not having that page at all.

Hey mate – Woo is generally better for SEO. There are quirks with Shopify you need to work around and out of the box Shopify creates huge amounts of dupe pages and content cannibalisation

We generally use a plugin on Shopify called Smart SEO which would be on par with Yoast for WordPress.

You definitely need to spend some time figuring out what you want to no-index in Shopify as tags and some collection pages usually need to be no-indexed

Tough to give exact advice for shopify as things like tags are often used to workaround category and subcategory limitations of shopify

Have you found that Shopify sites can be easily optimized for SEO? Or is Woocommerce your preference?

Cheers

XOXO….living in the Goldy now although would love some roast chicken! Will be back in the chiang at the end of year for the SEO conference if you’re about

Quick tip for your site…add a page about afterpay and put it in your menu and call it AfterPay Interest Free or something similar, seeing decent wins for AU clients pushing the afterpay stuff harder

Ecommerce market is booming and competitors are struggling with their Search appearances. Your article showed the path in-details what and how to do for ecom SEO. Besides, some extra guideline “like how an image should be” will give them “extra bounce” in this field. Me as well working for Ecommerce service (My company provides photo editing for ecom websites), so I know a little-bit how important to get visitors through Google.
